Delicious Coffee Brewed daily in small town St Peter, Minnesota.

Have wonder Iced CoffeeAt River Rock Coffee, we strive to brew the best coffee the world has to offer. Literally. Our fair trade, organic, and shade grown coffee beans come from all over the world. This is important to us because we want our farmers AND our environment to be treated well. To us, it’s more than simply following the trend. We constantly ask ourselves, how can we contribute to a better world? One way we can do that is by making informed purchasing decisions. For more information about the history and origins of all the coffees we carry, check out our coffee binder at the front counter! Our goal is to improve people’s habits (including our own!), to urge all of us to think about the issues at hand, and to make all of us better consumers.

Fair Trade: Basically, the Fair Trade movement is an attempt to ensure that farmers and cooperatives are getting a basic living wage for their products. This living wage helps to provide education, health care, and other basic necessities to growers and their families. The fair trade movement has extended into the production of chocolate, coffee, cloth, and many other products.

Organic: Certified Organic products are produced without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. In the world of coffee, many producers are working in organic or near-organic conditions, but cannot afford the expensive licensing to be “Certified Organic.” We serve both Certified and non-certified organic coffee at River Rock.

Shade Grown: This term refers to coffee that is grown under a canopy of shade trees, providing protection from the intense sun and preventing the destruction of rainforests. Sometimes also called “Bird Friendly” coffee, these plantations also serve as the best habitat for wildlife, especially birds, if their natural habitat is not available.

Teas

We take our tea as seriously as we take our coffee. We serve whole leaf organic green and black teas and herbal tisanes to provide you with a soothing experience. Using whole leaf tea rather than cut leaves keeps the tea flavorful and full bodied, a difference you can definitely taste. And remember, we sell our tea in bulk! Why not take some home to enjoy today?
